StatCounter: Recent Visitors. Used with permission from Google.
The other night I stumbled upon StatCounter. It took me about 15 minutes to have the program running and start counting on the blog. This is one of StatCounter’s sites. I thought I would share it. Approx. 40 percent of visitors, as of this morning, comes from The US. This counter have been running since February 3, 2009.
Thanks you StatCounter for the brilliant statistics, and thanks to Google for letting me use their map.

It has been a long time since we had the last screenshot on blog statistics. Which posts have got the most hits since the blog started about a year ago? Well, here are the top twenty list as of December 10, 2008.
The post on denotation and connotation is still the most popular post, followed, roughly, by posts on gestalt factors, and posts on Roland Barthes’ connotation procedures. The post on denotation and connotation has more than twice as many hits as the second post on the lists. All these posts have that in common that they are operative, and that they include pictures.
Please remember, that is was never the intention that this blog should be read in chronological order. You need to follow the themes to get the most of it. You’ll find themes in the tag cloud, and I have just made some shortcuts to the most important themes right here, to help you navigate the site faster.

All
I have been a bit sloppy with the screenshot lately. Must be because of the heat, but here we go again. It is still the most simple posts that hits the most. And I guess it is going to stay that way. Now, as the next posts will be on advertising, as as branch of communication, we will see how those hits.

Cheers

I am a couple of days late this time. Sorry about that, but here it is; the barebones blog statistics for February 2008.
Same trends as for January. The post on
denotation and connotation (semiology) has taken a huge leap upwards, and is now hit almost twice as much as second in line. This post is extremely short, and even if there are plenty of posts tagged
denotation and/or
connotation this one is the better post by far.
Almost all the posts on gestalt factors hit well, but semiology and phenomenology are slowly sneaking in on the top 20 list. They have not reached high numbers yet since they are all posted more recently. The tendency is good, though.
The posts in the top are all relatively short posts. All of them operational, and pretty easy understood and used. All of them have illustrations.
Remarkable, and a bit depressing actually, are that the posts on marketing and consumer behavior do not hit very well. The reason for this could be that the blog so far has not gone in any depth around advertising as a special field of communication, but that will come and things might change. Advertising has, so far, been treated quite generically. I am talking about the posts that are referring to and tagged
Steuart Henderson Britt. Here is the latest. They are a gold mine of information for communicators, imho.
Anyway, thanks for this information

I just wanted to share some statistics with you.
During January 2008 these are the posts viewed most. They all seem to have that in common, that they are 1) practically oriented, 2) ease to understand and 3) illustrated with photographs.
What seems to be less viewed are pitstops and notebook briefs. And, well; That was pretty much as expected.
Taking into consideration that gestalt psychology is almost the only area that I have been “practical” in so far, these statistics are both interesting and promising. But beware, the post on denotation and connotation is in the lead.
What is there to come then? More down to earth practical information, of course. And pretty soon, too. I am waiting for some permissions from out there.
I may even cut down a bit on the theory aspect of the blog based on this information.
And people read the pages too:
themes,
resources,
philosophy,
notebook. That is absolutely marvellous

.
Good information, this. Thanks.
